The types of crime that are deemed relevant enough for the urban planning process to be explicitly elaborated upon in this Securipedia, are called Security Issues.

Description

Security issues are crime types and therefore can be categorised (although not exclusively) by motive. As explained at crime, the four main motives for crime are:

  • financial gain
  • boredom or compulsive behaviour
  • impulse
  • conflict in beliefs

As depicted in the table below, the crimes included in Securipedia can be mapped along these motivations, although not exclusively; some crimes can be committed out of more than one motivation. These crimes are repeated in the table in italic characters.
