Future Workshop
Introduction
Future Workshop[1] is one amongst other methods to determine ethics aspects in planning matters. Future Workshop is a popular participative, action oriented approach used for a variety of purposes[2]. Participants are motivated to create unconventional solutions to issues of their concern. Creativity techniques are required to activate peoples. The aim is to generate future visions in urban devlepment and how these can be realised.
Process
The main phases of a future workshop are successively and systematically on one another structured:
- Criticism phase: The current situation ist analyzed to identify the problems and core issues;
- Fantasy phase: ideas are developed and suggestions are worked out. Potential hampering situations are not considered in the fantasy phase;
- Realization phase: suggestions are structures and counterproofed upon there realistic feasibility. The aim is to achieve agreement on the next step.
Help in addressing cultural/ethics aspects in planning of secure public spaces
- Developing visions and scenarios
- Elaborating new, creative solutions for concerning problems or issues
